Thanks, Lori and Georgia! I am more excited about my Chicago trip than my "return" to Mexico. Poor Mexicans in Wilma.

Judi,
I adore the Palmer House. My parents' anniversary was January 2, so we would go to Chicago every year to meet family friends and stay at the Palmer House.

I have very magical memories of it. I don't know how much it has changed in ten years, but it was such a special place. We used to eat in the French Quarter restaurant. I remember the little pool so well!

I really recommend it. When my partner and I went for Valentine's Day, we tried to get a room there but it was booked. We stayed at the Essex Inn instead- it was horrible. Never stay there!!

I hope you love the Palmer House as much as I do!

The Palmer house...wasn't that the hotel Kit and Aunt Millie stayed at when she won the essay contest and got that free train trip to the 1934 Chicago Worlds Fair?

Check Kit's Railway Adventure...

Your gonna have tons of fun!

All the Christmas stuff starts the day after Thanksgiving and lasts...till Christmas. It really won't be too hard though. But the Chicago cabs are pretty expensive.

I suggest going to the Water Tower for a resturant. It be crowded though. Or I suggest John Hangcok (sp?), which is right by AGPC. I've been to the top floor resturant for Father's Day..and I liked it!

Millenium Park is pretty! All the art there is amazing. I suggest you go ice skating there!

Not sure if I'll be in downtown/Michigan Ave, but I'll definately be in Chicago.

Alright...AG Place is right near the John Hancock building and Water Tower Place shopping center. There's also this Hershey's store across the street.

Also, you must find a way to go to Marshall Fields on State Street. Yes there's one in Water Tower too but State Street is the Flagship store. Next year sometime MF will disappear and become Macy's so this is your last holiday season to see Fields they way it was meant to be for 150 years!

You can take the bus or they even have these free tourist trolleys. If you really want to be adventurous, you can ride in a horse carriage, just like Samantha and Nellie! I don't know how much it is, I've never done that before but always wanted to...

Thanks for all your helpful suggestions. I am going to take my camera on the trip and post a report when I get back. Chicago is a great city!

I don't have Kit's Railway Adventure so I couldn't check about her staying there. The Palmer House Hilton was built in 1925 or 1935 so the time frame would fit. Does anyone know more?
